Helena Sunshine is an expressionist artist born and raised in Novato. Her modern, mixed media approach often represents scenes of East Bay daily life in a distinct style of abstract realism. Photography was her entry into observing the profound natural beauty of the real world, and Sunshine is an artist who radiates peace and positivity as much as her name would imply. Her teaching style is calm, compassionate, and takes into account every student’s unique identity in their work. Helena is currently working on a series to explore the shifting processes of her art in an equally shifting subject, flowers. A favorite amongst our teachers, she believes in learning the rules to break them. Ms. Sunshine enjoys working with people of all ages, and can even speak Spanish!
